Reduce Compulsive and Sexual Urges

Bottom Line: Mounting evidence continues to indicate that a link between pornography addiction and chemical changes in the brain, exists.  In addition, there is data to confirm that that medications/supplements can in fact change the way our brain works.

The creators of ProNeuro9 were stunned to learn of a case involving Alzheimer’s disease patients.  The patients, having suddenly developed addictions to pornography and gambling after taking a medication to help with tremors resulting from Alzheimer’s, filed a suit against two major drug companies.  The patients reported that after stopping the medication, their compulsive behavior diminished.

If a medication could produce addiction, they wondered, might there be something to stop it?

Our Findings

Individuals addicted to pornography are much like those addicted to heroin.  The brain of a porn addict supplies the drug- a cocktail dopamine and testosterone (responsible for feelings of euphoria and sex drive respectively) to name a couple.

In normal amounts, these hormones are necessary for a healthy lifestyle.  Repeated exposure to pornography, however, makes one’s brain desensitized.  An addict will find that just one “hit” of porn no longer produces euphoric feelings because the brain has become accustomed to the stimuli (the images).  So in order to get the same feelings of euphoria, an addict must find a more potent “hit”.

This creates a rush of testosterone and dopamine, among other hormones. What is the physical toll of this increase?  Harvard Health Publications reports that excessive testosterone leads to low sperm counts, shrinking of the testicles, impotence, mood swings, euphoria, irritability, and impaired judgment.!

Addiction can come in many forms, but it affects millions of people nationwide every day.

  • Approximately 1 out of every 8 Americans is living with some form of addiction.
  • 35% of all internet downloads are pornographic
  • 47% percent of families said pornography is a problem in their home
Focus on the Family Poll, October 1, 2003

A 2000 MSNBC.com survey found that as many as 80 percent of visitors to sex sites were spending so much time tracking down erotica on the computer that they were putting their real-life relationships and/or jobs at risk. "Until they discovered cybersex, most of these people had no problems with sexual addition", according to the survey’s author, Al Cooper, a sex therapist at the San Jose Marital Services and Sexuality Center in San Jose, Calif.

PRO-NEURO9 CAN HELP

Studies also suggest that porn addiction typically begins in the teen years and continues to affect individuals for decades. Porn addiction can be caused by low self esteem, loneliness, depression, mood disorders, chemical imbalances, or exposure at a young age. As a porn continues to be taken into the brain, it causes dopamine receptors in the brain to shrink, which in turn creates a stimulant "dependency".

ProNeuro9 targets the neurological and endocrine pathways in order to "boost" them into a more normal state. ProNeuro9 users report a pronounced loss of "hunger for porn". They don’t feel compelled to "give-in every time" they are triggered by something online or in their environment. They report that their porn urges drop from a 9 or 10 to a 3 or 4 almost overnight. Proper vitamin and amino acid intake in the body is known to fight mood disorders, chemical imbalances, and other factors that can cause addiction. ProNeuro9 utilized revolutionary research to combine these ingredients in a proprietary formula that help you overcome your pornography addiction. Try it Risk FREE!

More Startling Facts:

More than 70% of men from 18 to 34 visit a pornographic site in a typical month (comScore Media Metrix).

More than 20,000 images of child pornography posted online every week (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, 10/8/03).

100,000 websites offer illegal child pornography (U.S. Customs Service estimate).

"At a 2003 meeting of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, two thirds of the 350 divorce lawyers who attended said the Internet played a significant role in the divorces in the past year, with excessive interest in online porn contributing to more than half such cases. Pornography had an almost non-existent role in divorce just seven or eight years ago." (Divorcewizards.com)

47% percent of families said pornography is a problem in their home (Focus on the Family Poll, October 1, 2003).

Tracking data from 2010 by Nielsen Online2 showed that more than 25% of those with Internet access at work viewed pornography during working hours. This is an increase from 2007 figures (http://www.myaddiction.com/education/articles/sex_statistics.html)

As of May, 2010, Alexa research, which tracks Internet usage, includes two porn sites in the top 503 for worldwide traffic. This may not seem that impressive until you realize that almost all of the top 50 sites are social networking sites and that CNN.com ranks 57th. (http://www.myaddiction.com/education/articles/sex_statistics.html)

Every second $3,075.64 is being spent on pornography. Every second 28,258 internet users are viewing pornography. In that same second 372 internet users are typing adult search terms into search engines. Every 39 minutes a new pornographic video is being created in the U.S.( http://internet-filter-review.toptenreviews.com/internet-pornography-statistics.html)

According to safefamilies.org, 10% of adults in the US admit to Internet sexual addiction; 28% of those are women

Thirty percent of teenage girls polled by the Girl Scout Research Institute said they had been sexually harassed in a chat room. Only seven percent, however, told their mothers or fathers about the harassment because they were worried that their parents would ban them from going online (Girl Scout Research Institute, 2002.)

What are other countries doing?

Botswana

All forms of pornography are banned in Botswana. It is illegal to be caught in possession of  "Indecent and obscene material such as pornographic books, magazines, films, videos, DVDs and software”

China

Internet pornography was outlawed in China by the People's Republic of China in 2002. “Enforcement is strict and the laws are inflexible, with the government stance being hard-line opposition to pornography”.

Porn possession may cost an individual up to three years in prison, a 20,000 yuan fine (approximately $3,000 U.S. dollars) or, for large underground distributors, execution.

United Kingdom

The United Kingdom’s anti-pornography movement is thought to be better organized than many other movements in Western liberal democracies. “In the UK, starting from 26 January 2009, possession of images which depict ‘extreme pornography’ (violent pornography) is illegal, in accordance with Part 5, Section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act of 2008.

You are not “too weak” to overcome porn addiction!

As much as you told yourself that “that was the last time” that you’d look at , read or watch porn you find yourself going back to it yet again.  Along with that come the feelings of hopelessness, self loathing and failure. Why can’t you just take control and kick this out of your life? There is a reason, and there is help.

What’s going on?

Is this addiction all in your head? Quite literally, yes, it is.  What may be perceived as a purely psychological desire (hence the thought that you should just be able to STOP) is actually a physiological need.  That's why willpower alone sometimes isn't enough.  Just to clarify, this does not read “your brain needs porn”! Let’s take a closer look to get to know the key players.

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid):  This is the brain’s braking system. Its role is to keep glutamate from overwhelming us.

Glutamate: The main excitatory transmitter.

Dopamine: Part of the brain’s “reward system”. It provides feelings of enjoyment and motivation to spur an individual to proactively perform certain actions and seek out experiences including sexual experiences.

Research into the brain and addiction has found that when dopamine is released it collects between brain cells thus producing feelings of euphoria.  When the brain receives regular, repeated, and “addictive” stimulation it responds by reducing the typical amount of dopamine that would normally be released.  As a result, the brain’s “reward system” is less likely to respond, which then creates a need for bigger blasts of stimuli to feel rewarded. ProNeuro9 supplements the brains GABA levels allowing you to "inhibit" your impulses better.  You'll be shocked when you notice this effect, and this is a critical part of addiction recovery because over time, your brain will on its own bounce back and regain most of the ability to control itself... It just needs a little help in the beginning.

Can drugs really change the way my brain works? YES!

For better or for worse there is mounting evidence that would indicate the answer to that question is yes.  One such story has been reported in an Australian web article. A group of Parkinson’s disease sufferers has filed a class action lawsuit against two major pharmaceutical drug companies.  The group claims that after taking the prescribed drug, which helps alleviate the tremors associated with Parkinson’s, the medication caused several individuals to become addicted to gambling and pornography.

The writ claims some people taking the drug are alleged to have become addicted to pornography and lost their life savings to gambling, and that the compulsive behaviour ceased once they stopped taking the drug.”  (www.efarming.com.au)

Pornography addiction is a form of sexual addiction in which there is an abuse or overuse of the need to see porn, including Internet porn. The National Council on Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity defines a sexual addiction, including a pornography addiction, as "engaging in persistent and escalating patterns of sexual behavior acted out despite increasing negative consequences to self and others."

  • Excessive time spent on seeking-out pornography
  • Overwhelming powerlessness and inability to stop the obsession, regardless of consequences
  • Interference with normal relationships

However you choose to say it—Pornography addiction is a chemical addiction, or, if you prefer—Pornography causes the body to release endogenous chemicals which the viewer becomes addicted to; this is an epidemic we can’t ignore.

From : Effects of cybersex addiction on the family: Results of a survey by Jennifer P. Schneider

            Effect on the sexual relationship

A 34-year old woman who had learned of her husband's cybersex involvement only weeks earlier, described the effects on the couple's sexual relationship:

I realize now that many of the things he most liked and requested when we made love were re-creations of downloaded images. He is unable to be intimate, he objectifies me, he objectifies women and girls on the streets, he fantasizes when we're together. I feel humiliated, used, and betrayed, as well as lied to and misled. It's almost impossible for me to let him touch me without feeling really yucky and/or crying. I tried to continue being sexual with him initially (and in fact, being "more" sexual, trying to fix it by being sexier, better than the porn girls), and I couldn't do it. We have now been consensually abstinent for 3 weeks.

This description contains various themes that were brought up recurrently by survey respondents: a feeling of being objectified, comparing herself with the cybersex women, initial attempt to increase the quantity and/or variety of sexual activities, and a decreased desire to have sexual relations with the addict .

Porn & addiction...sex out of context

On a cold, dark night, there's nothing better than a blazing fire in the fireplace. You can pile on the wood and let it burn nice and warm. It's safe, warm, relaxing and romantic. Now take that same fire out of the fireplace (which was built for it) and drop it in the middle of the living room.  Suddenly it becomes destructive. It can burn down the whole house and kill everyone inside. Sex is like that fire. As long as it's expressed in the protective commitment of a marriage relationship, it's wonderful, warm and romantic. But porn takes sex outside that context.
